I was surprised by how good this film was. It was very involving. At first I thought the characters were stereotypical but then... it really surprised me. Definitely watch until the end.

The movie takes a little while to get going, but if you stay with it you will really like it. The acting throughout was really good, although the dialogue could have been written better. Remember that this is an independent film with a small budget, so they couldn’t have cars with mounted machine guns and massive explosions. Damascus Cover was made to show the real deal of how spies conduct their missions and this movie does a good job of showing that.

Tremendous movie. Seems poorly acted at first and the plot seems cliche. Then it hits you with a punch, then another and the actors turn real. The story becomes sophisticated, philosophical, deeply affecting. Just watch it.

Terrific political thriller set in the Middle East around the fall of the Berlin Wall with some harrowing twists and turns. Wonderful performances from all, especially the late John Hurt in his final onscreen role. Highly recommended.

I watched Damascus Cover last week. From opening credits to the end . this movie completely captivated and held my atention. This is an old fashioned spy thriller without gadgets and multiple explosions to get the point. Ari Ben-Sion is a world weary Moussad agent who just lost his 8 year son to a tragic accident and and also succeeded in getting one of his agents killed while trying to rescue him. So Ari is a broken man who's career seems to be over but once he's back in Israel his boss has another assignment, rescue of a scientist and his family and he seems to see this as a chance for redemption. in this film not everything is as it seems and a surprising twist at the end, I highly recommend this film. See it , you wont be disappointed.

I totally enjoyed this movie. It's an old-timey tale of espionage and intrigue in the Middle East. The characters are real people with real emotions, not charicatures who use gadgets and gizmos to achieve results. The settings are gorgeous. Seeing the movie is like walking the streets of Damascus. But it's a guarded walk because spys and strangers are everywhere. Take the walk and experience the excellent work of all involved, but especially Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
